HISTORY, ETHNOGRAPHY AND ANTHROPOLOGY
The article is devoted to the signs of property (tamgas) of 3 divisions of the Oirats in the Qing period: 1) the aymak of the “New Torguts” of the seim “Chin Sedkeltu”; 2) the Khoshut’s aymak of the seim “Bat Sedkeltu” and 3) the khoshun of the Edziney Torguts. Names of the noyons are listed. The tamgas of the head of the aymak council and of the head of administration of khoshun “Barun ergeed” are described in the first part of the article. The second part is devoted to the description of the tamgas of the head of the Khoshut’s aymak council, of the head of the khoshun’s administration of the Khoshut’s aymak, of the head of the middle khoshun administration and of the head of the khoshun administration of «Barun etgeed» of the Khoshut’s aymak. The third part contains the description of the tamgas of the head of the Edziney Torguts’ khoshun.
The article is devoted to the analysis of sacral function of a horse and a sheep as substitutes of soul of the person, as well as transmitters of vital force, energy. The literary, ethnographic and archaeological data is involved.
LINGUISTICS, LITERATURE AND SOURCE STUDIES
In the article there is observed the colophon of Mongolian translation of «The Sutra of Wise and Fool», done by the famous translator of 16–17th cent. Shireet-gushi-Tsordzhi, the author of paper gives the information on other translations of this classical work of the Buddhist literature, presents its transliteration and Russian translation.
The article is devoted to the research of the Oirat manuscript entitled «The History of Bagamay Hatun». The author shows that there is a deep connection of this work with folklore. «The History of Bagamay Hatun» probably has been borrowed from the Chinese or Tibetan culture, but deeply reconsidered. In this connection the question on origin of the monument is rather complicated.
The article is devoted to the analysis of one of the essential aspects of the Kalmyk poet’s works – appealing to the Buddhist sources. The theory of values of Buddhism is the symbol of national idea for the poet as well as a source of the Buddhist thought, its values and philosophy too.
The author notices that history of studying of the Mongolian languages in China inseparably linked with magazine «Language and Translation» on which pages there are being published the articles on the theory of translating and social studies. In magazine there are deeply illuminated the works of the Chinese and foreign scientists on the language, on the theory of translating, that has influenced the development of linguistic researches on the Mongolian language and translational work.
