Abstract

The authors of the article observe the Mongolian words from the composition of Kirakos Gandzaketsi, the Armenian historian of the 13th century, where they allocate among the words fixed by Kirakos actually Mongolian words, the Mongolian and Turkic words as which it is possible to consider them as synonyms in the bilingual usage of the 13th century, and actually Turkic words, borrowed by the Mongolian language till the 13th century. It is the first experience of consideration of an early source on lexicon of the Mongolian languages in the sociolinguistic prospect for the further researches in the field of the Altaic theory.

Abstract

The subject of this article is a borrowed vocabulary of different thematic groups, occurring in the Kalmyk epic text. The study analyzes the types of borrowed units of different semantics, their characteristics are given from the genetic point of view. The author identifies some characteristics of adapting of lexical borrowings in the Kalmyk language.

Abstract

The article deals with the names of the forms of water landscape and the names of bodies of water revealed by the authors in the lexicon of the Kalmyk songs which are key evidence of the former presence of Oirat speaking peoples in the region and the history of space exploration by man. Particular attention is paid to the functioning of the hydrographic terms composed poetry hydronyms in the Kalmyk folklore texts.

Analyzing the accumulated material in terms of language, geographical and other features, the author comes to the conclusion that the study of this genre of non-fairy-tale prose as legends has still many unresolved issues.

The author reveals the essence of the teachings of the Buddhist Jonang school. The article describes the activities of local governments in the Kalmyk steppe in 19thcentury on the basis of analysis of archival documents. The author concludes that social issues were under the special attention of local government, and their decision took place in the aspect of improving the quality of life, helping those in need, and improvement of the social environment.
