On the Copies of Manuscripts and an Oral Version of “The History of Uneker Torelkitu Khan”

Abstract

The article deals with written and oral versions of the famous Buddhist composition “The History of Uneker Torelkitu Khan”. The Buddha himself often told various stories to his disciples; those were both didactic in content and fascinating in form. The Buddhist tradition views such compositions as one of the ways to preach the teaching. Those gained wide popularity and existed both in written and oral forms.
