“Cultural nomadism” in the visual arts of kalmykia in the 1980–1990s
Abstract
The articles deals with a historical overview of Kalmykia’s visual arts in the 1980–1990s. The object of the research is the ethnic identity of a Kalmyk painter and sociocultural environment for creativity, the subject of the research is the issue of “cultural nomadism” in the visual arts of the republic. Creative reconsideration of the national traditional culture results in the establishment of a new artistic trend of the 20th century. The world view of a contemporary individual is reflected in the paintings and sculptures.
